Meet a G.N.O.M.E. donating homegrown produce in Denver, CO
Our Giving GNOMEs may have different approaches to gardening, but they all agree that Growing Nutritious and Outrageously-fresh Meals for Everyone is a meaningful way to give back to their communities. We're highlighting a few of their stories.
"I am fortunate enough to have the time and resources to be able to grow a little more than I need for my family."
1. In 2-3 sentences, tell us a little about you and your garden.
We have a smaller urban garden with raised beds. The beds were installed when we moved in and we have since added two others. We try to grow a variety of produce throughout the summer so we have lots of options and can try new things.
2. What motivates you to grow and share your homegrown produce?
I know how expensive quality produce is and how important it is to eat a variety of fruits and veggies. I am fortunate enough to have the time and resources to be able to grow a little more than I need for my family.
3. Tell us about your proudest gardening moment.
This year we are trying new produce we haven't grown yet, and am proud that all of our bean varieties are thriving!
4. What garden tool can you not live without?
My fingers - nothing better for pulling weeds
5. What piece of advice would you give a beginning gardener?
Be patient - especially if growing something from seed. It takes a while for things to start growing
Anything else you'd like to share with us or other gardeners?
Follow my garden this year, from seed to donation!
